Toronto, Canada – October 17, 2008 – On October 16th, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Dr. Jan Mrazek, Adastra Group President, won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2008 Award in the Technology category for the Ontario region.
Fifty finalists were selected from hundreds of applications submitted from all across Ontario. This award is presented to business leaders who have demonstrated innovation, personal integrity, strategic direction, financial performance and, of course, entrepreneurial spirit. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards are the pre-eminent awards in Canadian business and it is an honour for Dr. Jan Mrazek to be recognized for his achievements, as well as for those of Adastra as a whole.
In 2000, Dr. Jan Mrazek founded Adastra Corporation with his two partners, co-owners of the Czech subsidiary “Speedware,” a Canadian Company. Adastra Corporation has since become a 50+ million dollar company employing over 500 people, serving 15 countries worldwide with headquarters in Toronto and Prague and offices in Frankfurt, London, Sofia and Bratislava. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards honour successful, growing business ventures in 50 countries around the world. Introduced in Canada in 1994, the Entrepreneur of the Year program rewards recipients so that they might stand as examples for fledgling entrepreneurs Canada-wide. Since its inception, the program has received over 7000 nominations in Canada and presented 679 regional awards.
